Every story deserves to be heard!
What is MyPath Bibliotherapy?
In human experience story is universal. Every one of us have our stories and share our stories. Our path through life is defined by the stories of our experiences. Bibliotherapy simply means "healing through story." Some of us may have experienced trauma or adverse childhood experiences. Others have overcome difficulty or challenges with stories to share of their path to triumph and success. The MyPath Bibliotherapy method energizes our stories to become a force for healing and empowerment as we move into the future.
The healing power of story
Since Columbine in 1999, several hundred American children have been killed in school shootings. Thousands more have been wounded. Over 220,000 American children continue to suffer post traumatic stress from being present during the shootings. Dozens of communities have been forever changed and still bear the effects of that life altering experience. MyPath Bibliotherapy creates a healing event of musical theatre built on the actual, personal stories of the students present for the shootings.
MyPath the Musical
By participating in the bibliotherapy story workshop and stage production of MyPath the Musical, the students claim ownership of their path to healing. Heal the story... heal the human, heal the humans... heal the community.
Every single one of the 225,000 stories deserves to be heard.
